// State of Bengal
In 1987 Sam Zaman took a trip to the village of Noakhali in Bangladesh to work with the local musicians and dancers. Upon his return, he set up a sound system playing Western and Bengali dance music with musicians, dancers and rappers performing. The State of Bengal sound system became a rite of passage for many of the up and coming MCs who would later rise to pop star status with groups such as Fun-Da-Mental and Asian Dub Foundation.
